There is something deeply meditative about sitting with your loom and getting lost in the creative rhythm of weaving. Surrounded by color, natural fibers, and texture, time seems to slow down through the simple act of weaving a tapestry with your own two hands. This workshop will simplify the techniques so you can make weaving a part of your life.

The Art of Tapestry Weaving

An Exploration of Natural Fibers, Texture & Form

Join me at Studio Ora for an intimate four-session introduction to the ancient art of tapestry weaving.

Weaving is an ancestral practice, deeply rooted in cultures around the world and passed down through generations. Working with natural fibers invites us to slow down, connect with our hands, and discover the quiet, meditative rhythm of this timeless craft.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will explore both traditional tapestry techniques and modern approaches embracing texture and form. Through demonstrations and guided practice, you will learn how to prepare your loom and explore a variety of weaving techniques that are the foundation to create a woven tapestry. You will learn how to apply these techniques hands on to bring beautiful texture and dimension to your work. Each week we will be building upon the next, giving you the skills, understanding, and confidence to continue exploring the art of weaving on your own long after our time together.

Over the course of four sessions, you will create a woven tapestry sampler, bringing together the techniques we’ve learned into a finished piece that reflects the natural beauty of the craft.

No previous weaving experience is necessary. Classes are intentionally small to allow for individual attention and a relaxed, creative atmosphere.
