Natural dyeing invites us to live in tune with the colorful, the unpredictable, and the inevitable process of change. This summer, I invite you to gather in my extensive dye garden for a one day workshop where we will discover the range of beautiful, rich colors our local landscape has to offer. I will guide you from beginning to end so that you will have the invaluable and ancient knowledge of bringing plant color into your wardrobe, textiles or art.

You will learn the easiest way to prepare natural fibers for dyeing and how to process the dyes for successful, even color in the dye pot!

We will have lots of fun experimenting with the dye plant colors using mineral modifiers to exemplify the range of colors one plant can make. You will leave with an outline of the dye knowledge we covered in the workshop, as well as a beautiful array of natural fiber color swatches with different dye plant samples from our landscape.

After this workshop, you will easily have the life skills to forage natural dyes and prepare your own natural dye baths at home from beginning to end.

This workshop requires NO experience, just a love of gathering in nature and a curiosity to play with living plant color!

Studio Ora workshops are kept intentionally small so each student can receive support and individual attention.
